The La De Da Festival makes a stellar return this New Year’s Eve, bringing together some of New Zealand’s finest as well as the introduction of world class international acts. Party-goers will once again make the pilgrimage to the beautiful vineyard surroundings of Martinborough, just one hour’s drive from Wellington, where they will they will be treated to a line-up second to none.
Going bigger and better with two stages this year, La De Da combines a chilled winery vibe during the day with a non-stop party atmosphere by night across a Mainstage (Dub & Roots) and Electronic stage (Dubstep and Drum & Bass), to bring you the best of both worlds.
Keeping things chilled on the Mainstage will be local legends Fat Freddy’s Drop, American surf-rocker Donavon Frankenreiter, urban roots band Blue King Brown (Aus) reggae masters Katchafire, the ever-popular Sola Rosa (NZ) and the soulful Iva Lamkum (NZ); while hot favourites Six60 and Kora will ramp things up in the evening. Just announced is Australian beatboxing world sensation Dub Fx (Aus) who is sure to be a crowd favourite.
Over on the electronic stage, drum n’ bass and dubstep masters SKisM (Never Say Die, UK), Dodge & Fuski (Never Say Die, UK), and Eddie K (HENCH, UK) will join Kiwi counterparts State of Mind, Concord Dawn and The Upbeats w/ MC LowQui to up the ante on the line up.
Katchafire Double Header in Christchurch
To all our fans in the Shaky City of Christchurch, we are coming your way too for a double header of Chch goodness.
This will be our ONLY WINTER SHOWS in New Zealand for 2011 so dont sleep on this if you live in the South Island!!
The first show for the public is on Thursday 14th July with Christchurch band ‘Soulsystem’ and then the following night on Friday 15th we do a private show for all the students at Lincoln University with Dunedin band ‘Left or Right’ and Chch’s own ‘Soulsystem’.

Mana Maoli Collective ft Katchafire
Katchafire are doing a special show with the Mana Maoli Collective when they tour NZ in March! Check out an awesome evening of Reggae, Hip Hop, RnB, and Acoustic Soul on Saturday 12 March at the Orca Cafe in Raglan. Tickets $30 and doors open 9am. Tickets available NOW at Orca and Eventfinder! US Album Release April 2011
In April we will be visiting the beautiful Islands of Hawaii to release our latest album “ON THE ROAD AGAIN” at the Mayjah Rayjah Festival 2011. Cant wait!! Details can be found by clicking the link below.
Coming up in February we have Waitangi Day shows in Hamilton and Auckland on the 6th Feb. On the weekend of the 19th and 20th we have Reggaelution and Waitakere Sounds. On the 28th of Feb we do an Orientation show at Lincoln University in Canterbury.
Rangatahi Evening
Late 2010 we donated some prizes for a dinner that was run by a Youth Programme held in the Waikato. Here is their letter telling us about the awesome evening and how their rangatahi have grown over the time of their course. Too much you fullas!! Awesome korero. Thanks for allowing us to be involved with such a positive night. Nga mihi!!

Dear Katchafire, Rachael and team,
I would like to sincerely thank you for the support given to our rangatahi.
One year ago, this small group of rangatahi voluntarily started a journey to improve their contribution to their kapa haka roopu in the 2010 Secondary Schools Competition. Following the competition, the rangatahi initiated further support to develop their individual self esteem and confidence outside their comfort zone of Te Ao Maori. Each week, their wills were tested and their boundaries were pushed to the limit. I am proud to say, they persevered.
Our rangatahi provided an evening to thank their families for transporting, motivating, encouraging and providing unconditional support. Five parents were presented with gifts (including products from Heathcotes, petrol vouchers, chocolates, a cooler bag and non alcoholic beverages) for their exceptional dedication and commitment.
Families were astounded to see that their previously shy, not-so-confident child had developed enough confidence to sing solo. We were able to provide a safe, clean venue, a fully catered delicious meal for the whanau and certificates and special gift packs for each of the rangatahi and their 12 year old MC (a teina who had invested huge sacrifices in support of the rangatahi), containing merchandise donated by Katchafire, Poly Fonk Productions Ltd, S.A.D.D, Police and Stan Walker.
Most importantly, we were able to acknowledge the positive decisions these rangatahi have made. They chose to spend their spare time making positive improvements, gaining experience and sharing their maoritanga with the community as opposed to giving in to the challenges our youth are faced with these days.
Thank you for strengthening their aspiration to strive as young Maori.

Also we head over to Gisborne for Reggaelution and then to West Auckland for the Waitakere Sounds festival. Awesome reggae music with the creme de la creme (flash aye!) of the NZ Roots scene.
